What I Want You To Know
Poetry
Published February 12, 2017
This voice could no longer remain silent. “What I Want You To Know” is comprised of what has been seen, observed, learned, and experienced. Brutal awakening in understanding the symptoms of displacement, racism, and oppression that is spilled out, and affects the entire world by what is perpetuated in the United States. A society that has yet to acknowledge its dealings in partaking in the core of these issues. Cyclical affects that skews history, to bury the truth of what we know. Today, this will no longer remain so.
Swept Under The Rug (excerpt poem from book)
Swept under the rug
Its all been swept under the rug
The truth
The lies
The torture
The Shame
The violence
The hate
Slavery
Genocide
Segregation
Mass incarceration
Its all been swept under the rug
No acknowledgement
No accountability
No apologies
No empathy
Swept Under the rug
As if it never happened
Swept under the rug
To forget
Murder
Rape
Torture
Lynching
Assimilation
Languages destroyed
Cultures destroyed
Land taken
People taken
Resources taken
Its all been swept under the rug
With no acknowledgement
To forget
